Dr. Mearnic
Dr. Averil Elizabeth Mearnic is a native of Michigan. She grew up in Canton, Michigan and currently lives in Gregory with her husband, Matthew, and their two Great Danes. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology from Eastern Michigan University, a Doctor of Dental Science degree from the University of Michigan, and completed the Master of Science Program in Prosthodontics at the University of Michigan.
As a resident in the Prosthodontic program, she completed research on the Precision of Fit and Fracture Resistance of 3, 4, 8, and 12-unit Alumina Oxide and Zirconia Fixed Partial Dentures. While in her residency she had extensive training in implant placement and their restoration. Dr. Mearnic is currently a Clinical Professor at the University of Michigan Dental School. Recently, she had extra training in sinus and bone grafting.
Throughout high school and college Dr. Mearnic took many pottery and sculpting courses and has won numerous awards for her beautiful pottery. She loves throwing pots on the pottery wheel and hand building with clay. At Halloween she likes to carve pumpkins unlike any you have ever seen. She learned this from her father Rick, who has been carving pumpkins the same way for many years. He is also a very talented painter and sculptor. Her mother, Enid, is a wonderful seamstress and passed on her patience and superb hand skills. Dr. Mearnic’s artistic talents have proven a great asset in the dental office as well, helping to create beautiful, natural looking smiles.
Many of Dr. Mearnic’s family and friends still live in the Plymouth, Canton, and Northville area and she is very happy to be back, working in the Plymouth community.
